Baseboard Crazy

Hi everyone, so I need everyone’s opinion on this because I can’t make up my mind! So I have a really large upstairs it’s about 1800 ft.² I am Having my carpet ripped out and putting in 5 inch wide dark stained red oak floors which I’m super excited about! Anyway I redid my upstairs laundry room and put in 5 inch tall baseboards. However the rest of my house has 4 inch baseboards and they’re really dinged up because they’ve gone through two kids growing up and 16 years. So I was talking with my painter and he said it was cheaper to just replace all the baseboards upstairs instead of painting them because because they are so dinged up they would have to go in and fill all the dings and cracks and sand them and then paint everything. However, I was talking with other people and they said not to spend the money. Also my hardwood floor guy said that if I bought the materials he would install them for free. And the cost to put a new baseboards for materials it’s only about $1100. Should I just keep them and paint them or should I just put a new ones. Also I saved 2000 removing my own carpet so I could use some of that for baseboards. The first one with carpet is the original and the second is the new.
