are you aware of any cold spurt which may have damaged the tender buds???

The flower buds on evergreen mags when they first appear are often covered with a rusty orange indumentum, much like the leaf reverse. And can sometimes be mistaken for the new leaf buds, which can look very similar although skinnier. As they mature and get fatter, they tend to lose that fuzzy covering and develop into pure white buds and flowers.

'Little Gem' should start blooming shortly and continue sporadically throughout the rest of the summer.
