both companies make quality products -- why such a difference? do you have like a gazillion windows?

Not sure why the price difference...Levolor might be having a sale. The upstairs is 9 windows. Just changed the company but the product and number of windows remained the same. Would you chose one over the other?

That is my major concern, it soulds like the quality is similar, but will I be sorry in the future based on $1500. It seems comparable in what I can find on the internet. Do you have either brands in your home?

I just purchased Hunter Douglas window shades for 3 windows and am so glad I choose this company. Fantastic workmanship and absolutely quality products. I took advantage of rebates offered on an otherwise expensive purchase ($7,000), but know they will last many, many years. I'm very happy with Hunter Douglas.

Hunter Douglas is the most expensive of hard coverings. Have you compared the warranty of the two products? What is your budget? Could you make better use of that $1500?

I've had the Hunter Douglas Architella (light/dark) shades on 5 windows for 10+ years and they now need to be replaced. They were about $3K and the new replacements are $3K as well with the current promo which is $25. off per window and a $100 Am Ex card. Levelor Accordia (light/dark) shades are less than $300 per window about half of Hunter Douglas with their current promo. The HD cellular shades carry a lifetime warranty (for some parts) and the Levelor a 10 year warranty. I have not seen the Levelor up close in-store so until I see them, I cannot comment on the quality. I would have thought that the Hunter Douglas blinds would have lasted longer than they have. I see they have redesigned the mechanism to open/close these blinds, signaling that there was a problem with the older mechanism.

Levolor had a better warranty than Hunter Douglas, they had lifetime warrante. But that doesn't really matter now because Hunter Douglas bought levolor from Newell Rubbermaid.

You should check what "lifetime" means. I recently was told that it was only 7 years for HD blinds.

@ebhalla Did you end up with Levelor? Are you happy with the quality? I'm also considering Levelor cellular shades as they are so much cheaper than Hunter Douglas and offers 10 years warranty.
