wall color advice needed

Center hall colonial- using revere pewter for foyer, upstairs hall, and family room. Newburyport blue in dining room to the right, my question is, can I use revere pewter in living room to the left or Covington gray? They are both in same card. Covington is a couple shades greyer & a true grey in my opinion. You will see both colors when walking in the house. Is this ok that they’re pretty close? I think the Covington will show a bit darker. Any advice is appreciated. I live rever pewter and wanted to go with that in living room but husband wants a different color.

Continue with Revere Pewter into the living room...no question tell hubby I said so..add darker gray accents instead.....add the darker gray color he prefers in pillows wall art..lamps..keep the walls lighter and keep the cohesive color you have going!

...why would I mind if you tell husband it's recommended by a pro on houzz.... but if you two like online searches, this is a bit: "Revere Pewter is a gray paint color with warm undertones. Light definitely plays a big role in how the color will look too. For example in a room with North exposure and a lot of light, the color can come off fairly gray with some hints of green. In other instances though, can look almost taupe. The lighting, direction your room is facing, and the color of your furnishings all contribute to the color will look on your walls.... I wouldn’t consider Revere Pewter to be a beige even with its warm undertones. I’d have to say it is more in the greige category."

Just a thought online that you take stock of this new room's fixed elements [is the floor different than the last room?], and also the furnishings -- idk but he calls it a blue-grey.

As you know, consider the feeling you'd like when seeing the room, when sitting and living there. Muted and stately / or fresh and lively with color on the 'clear' side....i didn't say 'bright' though!

Going with Coventry grey— looks very elegant
    Thanks again.

Coventry Grey goes very light blue are you sure? It will not look like a darker grey..I think your hubby will be disappointed because it will not be a darker grey.....here it is in a bedroom..

Just trying to help...here are paint colors that are darker shades of revere pewter...These are warm grey

    Revere Pewter..lightest

    Thunder..a shade darker

    River reflections..darkest

all in the same family of color

    Coventry Grey..is a cool grey

We wanted it to be different. Will the cool conventry pair well with RP? We’ve tested it & it looks pretty.

    It’s the bottom color.

They come From opposite grey families....I would not suggest you pair them together..one is a warm grey and the other is a cool grey and it will look Blue..even if you take the colors in the art work to the right the grey has more of a green undertone not blue..and when you say tested it...do you just mean those small samples next to window?

Also it is best to not do different colors in every room...you have a navy blue dining room keep The rest of the house flowing and cohesive and use RP.

The painting is going.... not keeping that.

I have to make decisions quickly b/c the work is getting done soon. We will also be painting the kitchen soon too which is just beyond the dining room.

IMO they do not work together as you have been told so if you did not want an answer it makes no sense. BTW men are often color blind to shades of color. I like the cohesive look of one color where the spaces are seen together and what will happen if you decide to do this then kitchen wall color will now have to decided with 2 more colors in the mix plus the blue.BTW posting pics of the space and dealing with the lighting will help.

A post for a moment - the art's frame could be painted or altered to have the toasty softness.... distressed whatever called. Nice delicate branches/ flowers.

Still think considering furnishings of that room would help...

BMoore's site - I think they recommend Gray Lake also - which next to hall, might work idk. Lighting different than a hall's ?https://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-ca/colour-overview/find-your-colour/colour/HC-155/newburyport-blue?color=HC-155

possible if you use some pewter greys in that room ?

Room in question then view from foyer living room on left, dining room in right. Can’t truly see kitchen from foyer.

Could new. blue go on bottom of hall walls?

How's this just for idea to talk ? partly I post to say that a blue rug in LR could be enough - and let walls be creamy-beigeish? current...

Lovely home...use the paint colors I posted and you will be happy! You have three shades of complementing grey shades to pick from..but again I would do RP throughout...add accents of your navy blue in art...pillows..lamps..accent furniture to Make your home cohesive so that your dining room doesn’t stand alone...RPewter in entryway and LR..your blue in dining room and add one of the darker warm greys in the kitchen..Thunder or River Reflections......do white trim throughout.

    Everdebz- those rugs are terrific!

Please excuse the furniture or lack thereof. It’s all going & starting over. Lol Love that blueish rug! We’re doing white on bottom throughout. RP on top foyer and upstairs and through hall into family room which also is RP. The living room is by itself however across from dining room. Most of the walls are cut out. Or will have photos/artwork. Still against the Coventry?! I like it but unsure if I want the bluer grey or keep it cohesive. Thanks again.

The “like” button is not working, so I’ll say it here. Color combinations shown by HIWE are awesome! Based on experience, I can say that you will not go wrong with anything she recommends. She is very experienced and you can trust her 100%! I hope you will!

Walking into your center entrance, the hallway, in Revere Pewter will have.Coventry Gray on the left and Newburyport Blue on the right. Perfect balance! You can’t go wrong.

EXCEPT, if the natural light distorts the colors. I am a big believer that the orientation of the house should always be factored into choosing a color.

If the front of your house is facing south, you have it made.

I am not one of those people who like everything the same, but colors need to relate to each other. I don't wear gray slacks with a gray shirt and a gray blazer, but I don't think I would wear Coventry gray slacks with a Revere Pewter blazer over a Newburyport shirt.

This is one of my favorite examples of a home with lots of color that all relate and feels harmonious.

Well, if all furniture is going [too bad?] -- think of new furniture -- what color? I always hear that you can best pick paint after some decorating is considered.

I am working on my own home right now

I started with a slate floor in the entry that I love and have no intention of changing.

I looked at all my art and things that I love

Then I started picking colors that work with both the things that will stay and the things that I love.

    Here is a merged photo

Although I have lots of color everything relates to something in the room next to it.

I appreciate all of your help..... now I’m questioning the dining room? Is the current trend greige for every room of the house? Will the blue look dated?!?

These color ideas are combinations that are not only for walls but ways to incorporate color into a space with furniture art and accessories and keeping the wall colors calm and cohesive..it also dose not mean to pick a different color for every room. Fun to add a rich color in a small room like mud rooms or powder rooms...if painting kitchen cabinets add a unexpected color on lower cabinets or island...

After all these color posts of trends....I have to say I like the combination of the warm light grey/greige colors for walls..with a smaller space like bathroom or mud room in your blue..carry that blue in accessories and art to keep rooms cohesive....I would not paint the dining room dark blue..but adding blue dining chairs would be gorgeous! Hope this helps...
