CharWood Maintenance

Hello,
I live in the Lake Tahoe area and using CharWood - Shou-Sugi-Ban method with STK Western Red Cedar. We applied a Pinafin clear coat to seal it. Do you suggest we reapply the clear coat every year with our climate or can you suggest any other care and maintenance?

What we use is a product called Velvet Oil or Penofin. Both of these can be applied with little to no pre-prep and should be reapplied every 2-3 years depending on sun exposure. I do not believe that there is a right or wrong application time frame. If the wood is looking dry, it's a good time to apply!
