So frustrated! Does this new kitchen cabinet hardware work??

After exhaustively searching for 4 inch cup bin drawer pulls (fits holes from current hardware), I found some I could afford and they came today. I'm afraid they look too big??!! Would a heftier door pull work instead of knobs help? The pulls just look huge to me! :(

(countertop is being replaced soon with granite - yeah!!!)

I think they look fine but why are the knobs so low?

Looks very unbalanced to my eye. A combination of the pulls are too large for the drawers, and the knobs are too small both for the doors and to go with the pulls.

You just might need to give up on the cup pulls, or learn how to fill old screw holes and blend in the patch.

I think that having matching, right sized pulls on both drawer and doors tends to look best. (Full disclosure, I rarely like knobs either to look at or to use.)

I also wonder at the low knobs.

I like the pulls as they are hefty like the cabinets! But the knobs are way too small.....I think they should be about 2/3 the width of the raised panel they are screwed to now......do some black paper round mock ups to see if you like the balance....

^^ that might be part of why they look too big. I wanted to add that I do like their color with your wood.

the knobs look too small and are too low.

Ideally, knobs should be placed even w/the top rail trim. Like this:

but your knobs are still too small. and they're oval, yes? a larger round one placed here would look much better.

in place of the knobs, I'd do handles. just plain handles. yes you can use them w/the cup pulls.

Or, it just might be that cup pulls aren't the type of handle you should have. I know you want them, but because of the hole placements, it's just not conducive to cup pulls.

So, pick something else, OR, fill in all of your holes and paint the cabinets. then you can choose whatever you like

I felt the same way when I changed out knobs for cup pulls on all my drawers. I thought they were gigantic! But after several months (yes it took months!), I adjusted to the change and love them now. I think it was just a really big change, and it took awhile for the shock to wear off. But I do agree about your knobs on your cabinets. They seem to low. Pulls might be a better option

The reason the knobs are so low is that's where the hole is!! The original knobs were placed there. (shrug)

So is the consensus that the pulls are not too big - they just need to be centered vertically and I need handles on the doors instead of knobs? What's funny is that I did order handles (the knobs were for something different) but they're too small compared to the pulls. I appreciate your help!

@Beth H. : so do you think with handles that the cup pulls won't look too big?

@raee_gw zone 5b-6a Ohio - I have no doubt that I can fill the holes but worry about matching the finish. It looks almost as if they put a final finish on with the handles in place?

@JAN MOYER may I ask what you think? :)

Knob placement is off, and NO to a different pull WITH a cup pull. Just BIG FAT NO On that and apologies to Beth in advance lol. NO. It results in an I couldn't make up my mind look. Get bigger KNOBS and it will help, and Beth is 100% right on that placement

@JAN MOYER so stick with the knobs - just get bigger ones and bring them up higher?

I’d look for knobs that are larger and use 2 holes, so you can use the hole that’s too low and drill a second hole above it, but still have the knob where it should be. Not saying this one specifically, but Something like this-

patched holes will just not look good, unless you plan to paint your cabinets

or maybe a vertically placed cup in the same finish

lol, jan. the only reason I mentioned the handles (really plain handles that are on the smaller side) was because of the knob placement. If you remove them and make a new hole further up, the old holes are impossible to fill and cover without some really really good finish work.

and hey, JAN, cup pulls and handles do work together. (no offense) I see it a lot.

Renee, if it comes right down it, you'll just have to spend the money to get the cup pulls and handles that go together. Otherwise, do all handles.

Your handle placement on the doors would look just like this one^. Now, doesn't that look better than that funky low knob?

Yes, of course it does. get the handles that match the cup pulls. keep it simple.

this handle is still too low. but they do work w/the cup pull

Heck, you can even do all three:

You want to hear the one thing that will work? forget the cup pulls and forget the knobs. Get handles like I've shown (or similar) and place them like I've shown. use the same handles where you have the cup pulls. There. done. problem solved.

lmao! hey, i'm working with what's avail! it's better than those tiny knobs.

there is nothing wrong w/these handles w/the cups. If she HAS to do the cup pulls, this is better looking than the tiny knob. even a bigger knob wouldn't look good.

personally I would switch them all out to handles. (hard to find good pics of handles w/those older oak cabinets!)

and yeah, the heat is miserable. i'm staying inside!

Here is an entire page of center to center FOUR inch pulls. Please just lose the cup pull entirely and select one that will allow a good placement, VERTICALLY on your doors..

But get RID of the cup pull. Get rid of the small knob. The knob hole will become the LOW hole on the new pull you select.

Any single pull will be better than two different pulls. : ) and will help to correct the poorly placed knob you now have.

@JAN MOYER that link is for bolster neckroll?? LOL!

I 100% agree with the options Beth laid out.

IMO, those cup pulls absolutely do not work and are so heavy and overwhelming.

    Best would be all pulls.

But at a minimum, if you really want to keep those cup pulls, you’ll need bigger knobs or a plain handle on the bottom.
