I am not a plumber so please excuse me if I use the wrong terms. We're updating our tub spout (twist on) because the diverter is broken and I recently purchased a universal spout which is coming up short from the wall. The only advice I can find online is to shorten the drain but im not comfortable with that and obviously there are spouts that can work if I'm removing one.The issue I'm seeing between the two is that the threads inside seem to be shorter (dont come out as far as the new one). Is it possible the previous owner did this on his own or is there a specific type of spout I need to be looking for??
