Love your ideas of moulding on door and papering the walls. Youre on the right track.

Are you saving you want to wall paper the door?

I would get a nicer rug than what is there. I buy mine at Kohl’s. You can wash and hang dry. I buy two, so I have a clean one ready to swap out.

I was thinking creating a frame with trim and wallpaper within it. Not the whole door. Maybe even 2 separate “frames”
The doormat is trickle bc many are too think for the door to go over. And we can’t leave a doormat outside.

No no no. I was thinking you were framing out the door, maybe painting it. Then you were going to paper the wall.

Not papering the walls, they extend into 2 hallways. But what do you mean about framing the door and painting? Make it look like a real interior door (non-slab) and repaint white? That’s an option. Or maybe I can add indoor wreath just so I have something pretty to look at as I walk by

I would just leave it alone. How much of a focal point do you want the door to be? Nicer runner and done.

Again, the ones I get at Kohl’s are pretty thin. No problem em opening the doors.

I would leave the door alone. And skip papering the walls too.

Putting things up on it like moldings, and papering that tiny space looks contrived and overdone.

If you have a door mat outside the door, not sure why you need the dark mat just inside the door and that little rug in the hallway. Why do you need either? If your shoes or boots are dirty, stamp them on the door mat outside your door, and take them off outside your apartment and leave them on the mat until you carry in your bags. Then go out and get your boots and carry them in by hand if your condo doesn't allow you to leave them outside the door on the door mat.

We can’t keep a doormat outside, which is why there’s one inside. Visibly dirty or wet shoes are taken off outside but I like having a place to wipe shoes before going further in (and others sometimes forget to take shoes off). The rug in hallway is around the corner and just decorative. Soft surface for feet. I don’t NEED to do anything but wondering about options. I may try a wreath (inside vs outside) just for something pretty for ME to see.

You could get a door mat for inside the door, and to put your wet boot and shoes, buy one or two jelly roll pans and fill with river rocks and put your wet shoes/boats on top of the rocks. Or if you don't want to bother with rocks, buy cookie cooling racks. Then when they get dirty, but the cookie sheets and cooling racks in the dishwasher and they are perfectly clean again.

As for seeing something pretty, I would get a small dry erase board and tell her it's to write yourself reminder notes.

Then frequently, not on a regular schedule, write her little appreciative love notes on it.

She'll go absolutely wild for it.

@loobab: thanks, I meant to write "ME" not "her" :) I'm the only one in my family who cares what our home looks like! I have a boot tray inside the coat closet and the little bench has a hinged drawer where the kids keep their shoes. These are purely decorative "needs" and not for practicality.

Oh well!

So, I went with adding a wreath. DH nor my kids noticed -lol- but I like it. I think I’ll add stuff too it with the season- real Fall leaves as the weather changes, ribbon or poinsettia in winter, etc. It’s not fab either but it makes me smile!
