Soapstone vs granite

We are Choosing counter tops for our kitchen remodel, and I would appreciate perspectives and opinions about the use of soapstone vs granite or quartz.

Soapstone is going to age very quickly. It's softer than granite and quartz so you will notice etching, scratches, etc.... It is very beautiful once it's installed but will patina. I would look at a jet mist or a honed black absolute if you want an alternative. They are not perfect matches but look very nice also.

I am going with ceasarstone quartz low maintenance less than granite and stronger I hear,,so tired of the granite look my color is Belgian moon, its blackish, love it

Quartzite (vs. man made quartz) is fantastic and the toughest of all. Expensive, but maybe worth consideration for just an island with a simple, calm quartz on the perimeter.

It depends on what sort of look you are going for. You can oil soapstone to give it sheen and deeper color, and you can do a honed finish on granite to give it a more matte look than the typical shiny granite look.

What color is the floor? What material? What color is the cabinets? You need a contrast between floor and cabinets and counter.
