I would use glass top electric because the property will be a short term rental.

If it were my vacation place, I would use propane.

In my experience, Renters will not keep a gas stove clean.

While I'd always choose induction for myself, I'd choose a smoothtop range for a rental because (a) everybody is familiar with them, (b) no special pots and pans are required, (c) renters are less likely to accidentally burn down the house, (d) you won't have to refill a propane tank.

I would choose induction - less risk for damage and fire from elements accidentally left on. Also, easier to keep clean.

I don't think power outages should be a huge issue, because it's not remote, and the utilities in the community are underground. But I do appreciate that propane would be better from a power outage perspective.

I have rented many vacation homes, and rented my place. In my experience, gas stoves have been dirty due to boil overs and rusting grates, same with electric coil. Induction, lift the pan and the heat shuts off.

Do not have a built in oven.

It doesn’t matter to short term renters if you have a luxury kitchen, many renters will not be familiar with operating your appliances, and they may not know how to clean them.

Get an In expensive Table top microwave. I used to have an expensive Breville it disappeared. Even a coffee maker went missing.

I've managed vacation homes for 16 years. Tenants will probably fare better with the flat top electric. They may be intimidated by induction and propane will be a cleaning nightmare for you or your staff. You can always bring a portable induction cooktop/burner with you when you visit yourself so you'll have that option.

I would hate being forced to use induction in any place that I rented, and fortunately I have not had to. I do have a portable induction burner in my house, but I cook mostly with gas. I only use my induction burner with my pressure cooker - not with anything else.

Would you say the same about radiant electric (i.e. anything other than gas), or is it induction-specific?

It's kind of an odd phrase, though......technically, you're not really "forced" to use it, any more than you're "forced" to use the type of air conditioner or TV they have in the place. You're not being forced to rent there, and if you do, you're not being forced to cook on the stove.
