Countertop in Laundry Question

We are in a new home with a "blank" laundry room wall where currently there is a plastic laundry tub in the corner. We want to put in base cabinets and a farmhouse style sink (easier to help was our little dogs in). The wall is exactly 9 feet wide, which works well for different configurations but our contractor has suggested we center the sink so we have equal distances on each side. I am a very symmetrical-minded person so this makes sense, however with a larger family we do a LOT of laundry and i think it makes more sense to have the sink where it currently is in the corner. We want a 33" sink so it would have to sit on a 33" cabinet, but our contractor says a farmhouse sink cant really be mounted that closely to the wall because of the way the granite/quartz needs to be cut. anyone seen this done, or have another suggestion on what countertop material might be able to be used to make this happen?
