Can I make this room work without replacing the brown couch?

last modified: 5 years ago

Hi -
We recently had the interior painted - Panda White by SW. I purchased these pillows, on the recommendation of a designer/neighbor.

The side tables, coffee table and tray are new. I have a 10x13 Green Turkish Wool rug ordered and will need lamps.

Any suggestions on color or lamp? I’m considering a kelly/emerald green to help tie the pillows and rug together.

Does anybody know his family or friends where we could get actual information?
I am so afraid we may already have the answer...

Me too hamfast and I am so very heartbroken💔💔💔

No, she has a partner lives with. I doubt Houzz will tell us. Unless a Pro can??

I was thinking the same as well, would like to hear from them, but may never, just heartbreaking as you stated lynartist. I had only started following at lately, but what a great personality in this human being. I was going to say ‘that’ human being, but who knows, we may hopefully get a wonderful surprise one day!!!!

Thank you, lbytwerk, for letting us know. 🙏 RIP, Ted and my sympathies go out to his beloved spouse for your loss. It is a tribute to the kind of wonderful person Ted was to see how people have been so very deeply moved throughout this time of his presence and absence here - even through only the virtual connection of the internet. Personally ( and forso many others here ,I’m sure ), it feels so very much like I knew him in real life and had developed a whole host of feelings and admiration for who he was. I will miss Ted so much …. we will all miss you, Ted.💕

Oh nicci, how very true and beautiful! I am so very sad and Houzz will never be quite the same without our dear, wonderful, talented Ted♥️. I hope his family knows how much we all admired him here. My deepest condolences to his partner and family.

    Copied from her obituary:

Beth was always full of energy and creativity, whether that consisted of cooking in the kitchen, contributing design ideas on the Houzz website, braiding a Kumihomo pillow or necklace, organizing an art league to introduce new techniques and ideas to over 200 members or creating a one-of-a-kind Zentangle pattern. Her beautiful smile, engaging laugh and wonderful sense of humor lit up a room. Her compassion for childhood hunger led her to volunteer thousands of hours hand-crafting lunch bags for Kids Food Basket. On her own, Beth loved gardening and aqua fitness, yet she and Ted were fortunate to spend a great deal of time together traveling the world, golfing and riding their tandem bike. Visiting over 30 countries, some of Beth’s favorite places were Morocco, where she rode a camel and slept in the Sahara Desert, Southern Patagonia included standing at the tip of Cape Horn while observing multiple rainbows and the Atlantic and Pacific ocean currents merging, Scandinavia, Russia and Croatia.

Not only married, Beth and Ted were truly best friends. She was a blessing and the memories they made together will surround him with her love forever.

The above was copied from Tbixby’s obituary. I left out parts that included family members names - for privacy.

I had no idea that Tbixby was using her husbands old login. According to her dear husband, Ted, Beth felt she was treated differently, and taken more seriously by being known as a male on the forum.

Ted spoke about how Beth took great pleasure in helping others on Houzz. What a blessing she was to many of us.

A remarkable woman who touched our hearts and homes.

I’ll be sharing your sentiments with Ted. I think he finds comfort in hearing about how how Beth was so well regarded on Houzz.

I’m using my phone so please excuse the lack of spaces in the above.

    Another beautiful picture of Beth.

Wasn’t she lovely ♥️‼️. Just can’t believe we have lost this wonderful poster has left us. Many years ago someone asked if Ted was a man or woman. I said it didn’t matter, Ted was an enigma 😉. That was part of the charm and good humor of Ted! Such a bright , talented person who will be so missed here💔

    Beautiful! ❤️

Lyn, Her husband mentioned your comment. ❤️ He said only a few people knew she (Tbixby) was a woman. You’re right, it didn’t matter to us. He also mentioned there were several Houzz “regulars” she particularly
enjoyed. You certainly must be one of them. I loved reading the good-natured banter between the two of you.

    @niccidhg

    Beautifuly said.

lbytwerk, we did enjoy teasing each other! She would use a computer and I used my phone! I tried to get her to use the phone app but she wouldn’t have it! We liked to needle each other with that ! Like me I don’t think she was much for chat threads and enjoyed it when she could really get into helping someone one on one! She was very talented and had a great eye! I always loved it when our paths crossed!

    So Ted was a woman??

I’m heartbroken to hear we lost one of our Houzz family. Beth - aka Ted - was generous in sharing her design ideas and unwavering around helping others. We have all missed her, even though she was a digital friend. Those friendships are strong here on Houzz and her family should know that this group really enjoyed knowing her.

@Amanda Smith Yes, Ted was her husbands name.

@RedRyder I have been sharing these comments with him. And it gives him peace knowing that Beth's time on Houzz was respected and her banter and advice was enjoyed by many.

I had been sending Tbixby/Beth monthly messages on Houzz. Hoping that someone might read through her profile and reach out with news. And that is how I found out about her passing.

Ted, will read this thread from time to time. Thanks to everyone for sharing their memories of Tbixby.

Thank you for doing that lbytwerk. Everyone who loved Ted here and throughout Houzz over the years appreciates knowing. While we all hoped and prayed for a miracle we knew how sick Ted/ Beth was and there is some peace in finally knowing. I’m so saddened by this news💔💔💔

Lyn, I feel the same. Tixby’s last post was so sad. I, too, suspected the same, but hoped for a miracle. It all happened so fast. ❤️‍🩹

There’s peace in knowing she didn’t suffer. And was in her beautiful home overlooking the River & listening to the wildlife.

I am so sad to hear this news. I adored Ted and often followed dilemmas that s(he) was on. I admired her patience with people and the way she was able to question people to get to what they were “ really” looking to do. I will admit that I think she was correct in having us all think she was a man. Having grown up in the era of women’s lib, I am surprised at how the thought that Ted was a man modified my thinking, without even knowing. Please give Mr Ted my sincere condolences. The world is a bit smaller without Beth in it.

    ♥️your post shwshw!

lbytwerk, Your post of Teds excerpt from her obituary just appeared on my screen. Now I am in tears. What a truly remarkable person she was; but then I always knew he/ she was even though we only connected through this forum! Her kind, giving, generous nature always shone through her posts!

Rest in peace, Beth Bixby. Much love and sympathy to the family. Lbytwerk I cannot thank you enough for continuing to reach out to them.

Finding out Tbixby was Beth and reading her obituary only impressed me more. Beth's writing voice was focused and had authority. I am actually thinking of her while writing this, so my post is not too wordy.

Every time I saw Tbixby weigh in, I sat up a little straighter and took notice. She knew how to cut to the chase. "This is what I see. Here's a solution." Her experience and love for design came through all on their own. She will be sorely missed and always remembered by all Houzzers who knew her.

I recall him/her from my early days on here…always impressive! Beautiful photographs, thank you fir posting. Hard to add her to the list of people we have lost. It sounds like she lived life large, from the obit. We should all do so well. ❤️

Ibytwerk I’m so glad you messaged Ted and now we know what we suspected had actually happened. I’m shocked to find out Ted was Beth! But she was a great contributor here and she will be missed. I pray God will bring only the happiest memories for Mr Ted when he thinks of Beth.

I suspected as much as well. Also, I wonder what happened to groveraxle. She was another commenter not afraid to speak the truth.

altadavey, Grover has been gone for some time but I haven’t heard why. Another loss to this forum of a talented and very generous poster with such great mock up skills that helped so many!

Lyn, I’ll never forget when Tbixby reached out to you. I believe it was regarding my pillow dilemma…

“Oh Lyn, it’s pillow talk time”. And you two would go back and forth with ideas.

Lbytwerk; I just feel like I have lost a soulmate here on Houzz! It’s funny; it’s not like we stalked each other around the neighborhood! It wasn’t in either of our nature to do that. When we did run into each other it was always such a wonderful pleasure as we just seemed so in sync! I truly admired Ted! And we had so much fun over them years! I also knew how much she enjoyed helping people! It’s sad to loose so many wonderful people over the years but this has really hit me hard😥💔

Lyn, I knew you had a special bond with
Tbixby. I could tell the feeling was mutual . My heart goes out to you.
Reading the last posts between you and
Tbixby, (she's still Tbixby in my heart)
made me realize the importance of living
each moment to the fullest. I say this as I’ve done nothing today.
