Electrical question.

We live in an old house that we purchased new in 1987.
When we were expecting our daughter, I installed a dimmer switch in her room.
Flash forward to 2020. We’ve been converting our daughters bedroom to a room for my wife. As she is losing her vision, I decided to install LED bulbs throughout the house. I installed two LEDs in my wife’s “new” room and noticed they strobes. I’m in the process of changing the switch and noticed that there are three ground wires coming out of the wall. The switch has always only had one function: to turn on and of the ceiling mounted light. There is no ceiling fan and the light can’t be controlled from any other switch.
I’d appreciate any explanations as to why this is.
Thanks.
