Can you recommend a good label machine?

I've just decided that labelling is what I need to be more organized! I want to label kitchen bottles and storage containers---along with storage boxes and maybe more. I am interested to know if you have a label maker you like. I am planning to put the request for one on my Christmas gift list! My plan: declutter, organize and label! It would be helpful if you mentioned the pros and cons of your suggested label maker.

I think I have a P-touch. Turned out it's easier to have a nice collection of Sharpies. (Black and silver cover pretty much everything.)

I have a Dymo and it's fine if I actually take the time to use it, but I agree that sharpies and removable labels (or painters tape) is more practical. I have to keep the label maker without the batteries in it because it sucks the battery power so every time I go to use it, they're dead. I keep it, the labels and the batteries (separate) in a zipper bag. So the sharpies are definitely quicker!

Sharpies with removable labels or painter's tape. . . hmmmm. . . I wonder how that would look. I've heard a lot about P-Touch, but have never had one.

This one looks popular on amazon:

P-Touch, batteries last a lo ng time; tape/label easy to remove if you need to change to another 'name'. I use a lot of Mason/Ball quart jars for storage and label with my P-touch. Lots of choices for color of tape/label.

I've had the same P-Touch for more than 20 years. Everyone in my family uses it, including my kids. It's very easy to use plus the labels are waterproof and dishwasher safe. I've given them as wedding, housewarming, and baby shower gifts, Everyone who's gotten one has loved it. I get the labels at Sams Club or Costco.

The p-touch is sounding good! I'm having a look at what p-touch I can find. There are several types. Is there anything specific I should look for in the machine?

It just depends on how many features you want. Mine is very basic but it gets the job done.

I like the P-touch we have, it's probably 15 years old and pretty basic. I recently purchased after market label tape cartridges for it and they work great!

Sometimes the basic ones are the best ones! These days I think more features are what sells. I'd be happy with a simple one. Now let's see what I can find! Thanks all!

Actually, I did have a look at whether our Costco has a p-touch labeler (it doesn't), but it does have tapes. I think it might be wise to find a machine that uses the two different tapes our Costco supplies---that is, because they are usually cheaper. (OK. So now it got more confusing. Our Costco tapes are more expensive than Amazon!)

I see that the machines can accommodate different sized labels. I don't think I would need different sized tapes because that means changing the tapes and having more tapes to store. I would think that maybe 1/2 inch size would be best size all around? And my guess is black writing on white labels are easier to read.
