Structual engineer

My husband and I have come to live with my mother-in-law as she has dementia, and we had promised that we will do what it takes to keep her in her home as long as possible.

Since we have been here full time, I have become concerned about the cracks in walls and a ceiling that have gotten much worse over the years. The house was built in 2001-2002 to replace the 1840's house that was gutted by fire in 1998.

I would like someone to inspect the house to see if it is normal settling or if there is a real structural emergency. How do I go about finding someone? Contact the original architect? A home inspector through a realtor? I'm just not sure where to begin. We will inherit the house one day, and I don't want it to fall around our ears when we do!
