Types of Range/Cooktops...what do you prefer?

Planning to update our range/oven and am wondering what type of range people prefer. Currently, I have the electric coil range that came w/ the house. Nothing special, but it serves it's purpose. I prefer the aesthetics of a glass top, but heard they aren't ideal for canning(?), and I'm hesitant to give up using my cast iron pans. It's not our forever house, so I'm not spending the $ on induction. I'd love gas, but don't have it plumbed to the kitchen. So is my best bet just to find another coil range?

Coil elements are a bit outdated but can take everyday wear and tear better than glass or induction.

I'd look into running gas into the kitchen. I think you would be happy with it overall. The appliance companies that we use to assist our customers warn that if you use a lot of cast iron not to do the glass cooktop - which you already thought of.

I love my flat top! We use stone wear on them and haven't had scratching :)

Wasn't aware of gas co limiting usage. So say we have a houseful of people on thanksgiving, I've cooked a turkey, the gas fireplace has been on all day and people want to take a hot shower before bed ..... will there be limited hot water??

Your meter and regulators need to be sized based on the gas usage of the home (the number of gas items installed in the home). Any HVAC company can check this for you and they would generally be the ones extending the gas lines for the range so they would need to check it anyway.
