Its very ornate so I would not add anything else to it. I would leave it as is, it’s interesting and kind of cool. Perhaps just add other decor to give your space a bohemian vibe.

I like it as is. Maybe a chair next to it with a decorative pillow where people can sit to out shoes on.

Part 2 - I just found similar “boho” style armoires that sell for over a thousand dollars. So I suggest to leave it as is.

I have it off-center because my plan had been to put a rug underneath (that would be centered) and then have some functional items to the right: an umbrella stand for sure, and maybe a mirror on the wall.

Replace the door knobs - I might paint it too! I’d use a flat ‘milky’ paint. A few simple baskets on top for misc. items would be fun and useful for storage also. Fun piece!

I don’t think it needs doorknobs altogether. Is it hard to open without them? I think the paint is more of a white wash, antique look. And your after more airy clean bohemian. You can paint it a light milky Greige.

Gosh, don't paint it! The current finish makes it look antique and gives it character. Why not paint the walls, or just one feature wall behind the cabinet, some fun color instead, and enliven and define your entry area that way?

Back away and take a picture of the larger area. Of course, after the holidays when things are back in their normal places would be a better time do tackle this. If you're not putting drapes on that window, then I would center the cabinet. IMO, its a stand-alone piece that needs no help to make a statement. We need to see the floor space all around to advise on a rug. I think more interesting knobs/pulls could be added. I like the tassel idea but would just keep them big and in your colorway for the rest of the soft goods or the rug. The design on the cabinet requires no more kitch, but you could lean a piece of art on top of the cabinet. Still need to see the entire area to determine exactly how to add but not go overboard. Post again after your tree is down and you're back to normal.

The cabinet is too new and too expensive to paint, for sure. The doors are impossible to open without knobs, so knobs of some kind are needed.

I do want airy and lively. I hate our dark wood floors and space overall needs help to not feel too cold. No drapes on the windows because they face an enclosed alley and we need their natural light.

A better photo of the area would help, however, the 'star' of the area is the armoire. Don't clutter it up with c__p around it unless you can work it into a total room setting like you see below.

And I’ll add that if you are to add a mirror don’t do the chunky wood one you showed. Too much wood and in the same tone. Go with a metal framed mirror or a wood finish that is simple and distinctly different in tone or color than the armoire.
