Do you use the two cabinets above your machines? My first thought was replace the cabinet above the washer with a clothes rod for hanging clothes. You can get a folding table installed on the wall (example below) where the ironing board is right now if you want a flat surface but think twice about your clothes folding reality. (I have front loaders and installed an inexpensive counter on top for folding space. Turns out, it's a bit high for me and I prefer to fold clothes and linens on the bed. :P) I imagine the ironing board is usually hung on the gizmo holding the iron?

I like the idea of removing a cabinet for a clothes rod. Or even a fold-down rod for temporary hanging if needed. I would absolutely doll-up that space if I spent time ironing or folding in there. Really pretty wallpaper, change the cabinet and light....

Flat, led, very bright - they make it look like there is a skylight in the ceiling. (At least they did in my dark laundry room. I had one fluorescent light ceiling fixture, no windows, same width as yours but shorter in length. Now its nice and bright.

what about replacing the door with a curtain? (if noise is not an issue.) or change the door so it swings to the left.

looks like there's kind of a nook where you could mount a clothes hanging bar on the wall to the right. find one that sits as close to the wall as you can, or do a ceiling mount (since that corner angled wall is awkward).

put away clutter you don't use all the time. the iron doesn't need to be in a wall rack. put away the board. can the vacuum go in a different room or closet? (or it could go to the left of the clothes rack.)

Is the ironing board practical for folding clothes? I would find it too narrow. Glad to read your flooring is vinyl. That makes way more sense in a laundry room than carpet. :)

Just came back to emphasize the importance of functionality in this room. Not every suggestion might work for you. For example, I'm short and my suggestion of a clothes rod above the washer probably wouldn't make sense for me (too high). Would it work for you though? Right now, I have two shelves above my front loaders and need a step stool to reach the top one. Take the time to really think about all your laundry steps and tasks when figuring out how to organize this space.

If you can squeeze in a skinny cabinet to hold a drop down ironing board, you can use it for your folding area. Using the Marie Konde folding method should make it a snap and increase your clothing storage space tremendously.

What about putting a rolling cart in there for folding clothes. You can use some of it for supplies.

I have a very similar size laundry room. We changed the door to long panel swinging doors to not congest the space in the room. Although I have front loaders I use the Dryer to put folded clothes on, along with a clothes basket to stack clothes in and carry out to put away. The hanging rod pictured I got on Amazon and absolutely are a space saver. I have 2 of these in there. I think you can easily mount these on the wall left of the dryer. I agree with other comments, to store your iron in the cabinet. Not sure what is sitting against the wall left of dryer, but looks like you could put your ironing board there when not using it.

Also, consider mounting a hanger for your broom, vacuum and tools, etc. located left of the door so hidden from view.

I had a similar problem. Put up one narrower upper and a rod over the machines. Trade the washer for a front loader and put a piece of laminate over both units. Hanging and folding with minimal effort.

Elaine, count your blessings! Your laundry room is tight, but I have zero laundry room. The washer and dryer are in the kitchen. I fold on the dining room table or a bed and put laundry away ASAP. You’ve gotten some great ideas here and I wish you luck in developing a space that works well for you.

On dryer’s wall side, add something like below add you could place a framed poster over the hole/pipes (that can be easily taken down for access)

If you prefer, idea below and would have to be on dryer’s side with drying rack opposite

I‘m sure you would also like the space to be more fun and consider an update - combination below would compliment your floor. Could go cream on walls and blue on cupboards

Please take photos of the cabinets with the doors open. If they are older, they may not have adjustable shelves, but sometimes you can change the height of the first shelf without much effort. Then you can store your big bottles within easy reach.

We just installed an Ikea TJUSIG hat rack in our laundry room yesterday next to the ironing board. It is multifunctional with hanging rods, hooks and a shelf.

You could switch to a stackable front loading washer and dryer to create more open floor space. I did that in a previous house where I needed more space in the laundry room. Or you could keep the machines side by side but switch to front loading so that you can use the top for folding.

. When you want to fold clothes, fold the table down. When the table is not in use & is flat on the wall, the underside of the table could be painted to suit your artistic taste.

ironing board: I have a similar caddy on the back of our door. It‘s convenient to store the ironing board out of the way.

Look at adjustable wire shelving racks -often called metro shelving - there are literally dozens of brands and combinations of height, depth and width. Consider 72" tall and 18 or 24 " deep by whatever width you feel would be comfortable. If on casters, you can roll it out of the way as needed for cleaning. Your preferred product might come with 5 shelves in the tallest size, but you don't have to install all of them; one shelf may go unused in order to give you a wide gap between a folding shelf and hanging space on the top. My daughter found this to be a great solution for her cramped laundry room. As an example:
