Are you a ‘monogamous’ quilter?

When Donna posted her super cross stitch project, I was working on a baby announcement piece. And I was bitten by the xstitch bug again. Not that I would give up quilting but I find that craft calming. So off to Youtube and check out what stitchers out there are doing. Wow! There are a great many xstitchers posting on what is called Flosstube. I was amazed at the beautiful work done. But what I found also amazing was that many of these stitchers have multiple projects going at the same time, and I mean multiple.

And they all claimed to NOT be monogamous stitchers.

So, I guess if you only work on one thing at a time you are monogamous.

Which brings me to quilting. Do you have several quilts being worked on at the same time? Or do you start one and keep at it until finished? Can you go from one to another and keep focused and organized?

I tend to work on only one. I have in the past had tops waiting to be quilted and bound, but lately, that causes me some anxiety. So start to finish, no detours.

Thinking about next projects is another story.

For the most part, I am monogamous. I may set it aside once the top is pieced, but I generally get it to that point. I do have one in the bin that needs borders. But once I pull it to add the borders, I will finish it at the same time. I don't think I have ever pieced more than one quilt at a time. That would drive me crazy.

I posted this on Sat. And it is just appearing here today, Tuesday. Something strange going on!

Anyway, this kind of blends in with Sharon’s UFO challenge.

If you are joining her, then you must not be monogamous.

I am anxious to start some string sewing but...not until I finish the one laid out on the table.

When I was knitting, crocheting, etc, it was start to finish, but quilting is different. Too many patterns.......not much time. :-)

I'm not a monogamous quilter, so I must be a polygamous quilter. Sounds pretty racy to me. I usually have several quilts in progress at any one time. I get tired of working on one, so I can switch to another. What I will say, is that I do work on the tops until they're finished. I don't have any half-done or waiting for borders. They usually languish a bit until they get quilted though, but not really too long. Right now, I have the pieces cut for three tops that I plan to work on in Palm Desert, if we ever get there. We want to get our first vaccination (if that ever happens) before we leave.

By monogamous I thought maybe you meant quilting and no other crafts. I always have several things in progress. I usually machine quilt in they daytime on weekends and do hand work in the evenings.

I always have several things going as I do the leader ender method of piecing. So I may be working on Jamestown landing but as my leader ender working on some 4 patches or the never ending string blocks. Or if I know that I want to make a quilt that has lots of small part, I will take a break from sewing and cut some of the pieces for that other quilt. I put the pieces in a plastic shoebox until I can fully work on that quilt. And of course, someone always comes up pregnant, so I have to break to make a baby quilt. :)

Jackie, "someone always comes up pregnant" gave me a chuckle. Sounds like spontaneous pregnancy. LOL

LOL, me too! I have been trying to keep a baby quilt on hand for just those occasions that "come up" unexpectedly. I am definitely not monogamous. I like to have something completely different to switch to when I get bored working on a particular piece. I have been somewhat better than I used to be at finishing what I start.
