Bedroom Layout Help

Hi, I need help with adjusting my room layout (dimensions are 400cm by 360cm).

The door next to the built-in wardrobe is the entrance, and the door opposite is to the study. I've only purchased the bed so far, so the rest of the furniture can be changed. I've aligned the bed in the middle of the high window which looks good but eats up a lot of the space of the room. Also, the gap between the bed and desk is around 50cm which may be an issue.

Another idea:

Please leave your suggestions below, thankyou.

I do not like desks and computers in bedrooms so is this a necessity ? As for the layout as you show it I think is great for the bed With that wall of closets doe you need the dresser on the left . Maybe posting a pic of the actual room will help.

This may look like the bed eats up a lot of space, but the good thing about it is you can make up your bed and change the sheets very easily. Another option is to put your bed up against a wall. The downside to that is it's not as easy to make the bed, it eats up a lot of wall space, and you can't put the nightstands on each side. So you need to decide what's more important to you - ease in making the bed, or more space in the room. I like the second picture, where you have more room to get into your chair. I agree with Patricia Colwell in that I'm not keen on desks and computers in the bedroom. If there is another place for it, that may be a better option.

Yes, I need the desk in my room. This desk is 1.5m by 0.75m which is very big, I was thinking of maybe opting for a smaller desk, perhaps 1m by 0.5m which will just be for studying. I won't have a fancy computer set up or anything on it. Yes, I have a study but am using it as a gym/hangout area as it connects with my brother's room on the other side which is identical in size.

I like the second layout and wonder if you could put the desk under the double windows. You said it’s large so maybe slide the bed a little closer to the door to the study.

Is the armoire movable? I ask as there's a rule of what walls to put a bed on. First choice is the wall opposite the door. Second would be your option 2, and your alternative would be option 3.

If its not, I'd go with option 1.

@mkoebrich1425 I think I could put the desk under the double windows if I shifted the bed, but the tight squeeze would still be there.

@jess jess No the armoire isn't movable, but I don't understand what that has to do with the rule of what walls to put a bed on. You said the first choice is the wall opposite the door, which is what I've done in option 2, I can do that regardless.

Nice work with your sketchup! It looks like your bed is a twin? If this is a room for only one person, perhaps you only need one nightstand, eliminating the one in the corner. And as someone else suggested, could all your things fit in the wardrobe unit without needing a tall dresser? (Your nightstand could be a three-drawer unit, which would give you a few drawers.) Then you could go with option two but move your bed closer to the corner, leaving only a walkway between bed and wall for making the bed. That would leave plenty of room for your desk area. And let’s face it, we all are having to create desk areas in places where we might not ordinarily have them in different circumstances. In our guest room, we had to push our queen sized bed as close to the corner as possible so as to fit a “Zoom Station” next to the bed. Enjoy your new space and new furniture!!!
