To get your island to stand out you will need either:

1. Light coloured floor (ie. natural red oak in a clear coat water based poly); OR

2. Ultra dark (so dark it looks almost painted.

The red birch will look VERY handsome with red oak that is left in a natural colour. Red oak that has been freshly sanded will look like wheat. It is very blond with a bit of rust showing in the rays...and that's as exciting as it gets.

You will find the 'rust' colour in the natural colour is a tone-on-tone look with the red birch island. It will look very handsome and very fresh and contemporary while still looking transitional/traditional.

I'm not a fan of super dark floors. I can't offer much on the darker colours. I just don't like them.

Dark walnut and antique brown is a common floor color for your color scheme paired with a satin finish. A lot of colonial style homes in my area have this interior design idea.

I think your floors are nice the way they are. It looks like they compliment the island and hood well, unless I’m not seeing them correctly on my screen.
