Help Decorating Master Bedroom

Looking for ideas to compliment the furniture and bedding in this room. I need to paint - that is my first task but other ideas would be great. Thanks

Hey Michelle! I'm thinking the trim and doors should be white- unless that's not something you're into but I feel its clashing with the wood of the bed. As for paint I see the color scheme seems very calm with the neutrals and blues, I would say a gray color would look great on the walls, personally I really like behr Silver Bullet, if gray isn't your thing you could do Dayflower by behr which is a nice calm color. Of course if you don't like Dayflower or the gray you could do white, it's just personal preference. Also on the wall above the bed you could do something more angular like a canvas :) Hope this helps.

I love the color of the Silver Bullet. I love the idea of white trim and doors. I redid my kitchen and the cabinets are white and I absolutely love them. Trim is still the oak color. I agree though it does class with bed but I think I will tackle that last as I feel if I start in one spot upstairs it will never end!! :)

Would love any more ideas you may have for the walls or empty space in the room.

As for the empty space next to the "always remember" canvas, a comfy armchair would look great and would make a nice place to read, I've seen some good ones at target it doesn't have to be west elm furniture or anything super expensive. I'll let you know if any ideas pop into my head, I'm glad you like my feedback.

What about an upholstered bench at the foot of the bed, maybe with a throw on it or a fluffy faux sheepskin? Agree that a large rectangular canvas art piece would look nice above the headboard (or three matching square ones hung closely together). If you find one, then I would take away the word art piece on the right side of the window so it doesn’t compete. We use so much word art these days, I think one piece is about tops per room. Maybe the wreath would look nice above the tall dresser? What about a small bouquet of silk flowers or a plant on nightstand(s), perhaps on top of a book or two? Agree with an armchair/reading nook in corner of space allows.

The TV looks awkward. Have you tried a console across from the bed on the wall to the right of the door, with the TV on top.

@shirlpp Tv is going to go when I paint. It is too small and hard to see now that my eyes are horrible!

Thank you @ginatay124 The word art pieces were gifts and agree - we do overdo it!

    Hi Michelle-

If your closet does not have a door, I would try to put a door on it, or if you can't figure out how to do that within your budget, then hang a curtain on a suspension rod.

You can remove the word art on either sides of the window.

If your dark curtains are not wide enough to close all the way across the window, please buy more panels so that they can close.

Another idea for that window that gets so much sun is to get a double rod and in addition to that colored curtain get some sheer panels so that when you are there in the middle of the day to read or relax and you don't mind some light, you won't be blinded by the light.

I would suggest removing the dried wreath over the bed. It is a dust catcher that is unhealthy to have right over your faces.

In its place you can put some art, or if you want something soft, how about some fiber art?

There are some wonderful macrame wall hangings for sale on Ebay and etsy, or you can try your hand at one yourself.

You can wait and see what the room looks like after it is painted, but I think that light lamp shades would look better on your side tables.

You might want to get a larger TV and mount it on the wall on either side of the door to the room. You can get the type of mount that can be raised or lowered and angled in either direction, so that even if it isn't directly opposite the bed, you can compensate for that. If the current TC is removed, you can move the dresser closer to the end of the room, and then move the bed so it is more centered on the wall where you would position the new larger TV.
