Well the side load garage is an improvement.

I am not a fan of designs that give equal weight to tge house and garage.

Dark kitchen area with no windows, with the window space going to the pantry and the dining room, which is probably used much less. Small dining room with probably no room for a china cabinet or buffet, only a table. Butler's pantry is a waste of space and pantry has little storage space considering how much space is given to it.

Which windows face south?

The location of the brick cladding seems arbitrary and distracts from the architectural composition of the house, not that the composition doesn't need some cleaning up as well.

The prominent medieval heavy timber truss attached to a light wood framed house is awkward. If you want a colonial meets medieval theme try the Post Medieval English style brought over to the earliest English colonies in the 1660's. Few good examples have survived, the most notable being the House of the Seven Gables in Salem, MA.

A major change in cladding materials is an architectural statement: its trying to tell you something. In this case, the brick is so unrelated to the overall design that it actually suggests separate ownership. I would consider that the ultimate misuse of a material however it has become so common it is now a cliche.

We have edited the plan some what. We made the dinning room and back porch bigger. We have all 7 foot windows in the back of the house. We removed the door in living room and moved it to dinning and it will now be glass french doors. I was instantly attracted to the colors of the house. I guess its not everyone's cup of tee. I just posted to get ideas of others houses built that are similar to get material ideas. We live in south Louisiana so yes i do want light in my house i also want to keep the house cool. We will get the afternoon sun. I find the pantry to be a decent size.
