Hello all,

We are building a new custom home in Florida. The front elevation we signed ( the first picture attached) is different from the one that came from engineering ( second picture). And now that the walls and windows are in, the roof line is encroaching into the window, even more so after tiling will be in ( third picture). They didn't even know about this. We picked it up and brought it to their notice. This whole building process has become a nightmare to us. We are meeting with the supervisor and hopefully the architect on Monday next week to get a clear picture.

They have proposed 2 options-

1. doing gables that will meet the wall above the window line on both sides of master closet bumb out ( the roof line that is encroaching into the window is over master closet)

2. reducing the window size to 18" ( currently 36" wide) but would take 3 months to do and wall will not be finished until then. Right now we are done with electric.

We don't think option 2 is feasible as 18" wide windows are pretty much useless and will not look good on front elevation of this house.

The architect who designed did not take into account the tile protrusion beyond the fascia when planning the house. He has done few other mistakes in other parts of house as well.

I need help from experts if the gables on either side of that master closet roof will look ok. We have hip roof system everywhere.

We talked to supervisor yesterday about reducing the soffit width but he stated that it has to be 8.5" reduction and that would be too much.

Please help us. We are open to any ideas.
