the finish will only matter if the used a inferior product which I think they wouldn't. ask what product they used ?

Wipe the door down with a damp cloth, and only water, and see how it turns out. It may be just fine. If not, you can always buy some exterior paint in your color in satin or whichever sheen you choose and put a new coat of paint on it.

Judy, thank you for this info. I will find out about the top coat! I know there's already a scratch at the hinges where some white is showing underneath. I would think the top coat would prevent such scratches

Cat, I will wipe down with just water - thanks. I agree that it's an option to repaint it but just don't want to pay more to have it painted when we already paid extra for the manufacturer to paint it with the proper uv process.

It's difficult to define matte and satin. Because there is no industry standard to align verbal descriptions like matte or satin with measured gloss levels.

In general, however, exterior doors are not glossy or shiny, they're matte in appearance. If you want any degree of gloss on a door, that's going to be custom after-market because it's not an easy finish to achieve. For example, shiny front door = $$$ in terms of product and labor.

With that said, definitely follow up with the vendor, someone needs to do something about the chips and nics.

That scratch is an indication something is wrong. You have a 10 year warranty on the paint. Get on it now.

Thank you for all of the insight! My contractor and I went to speak to the vendor together. It turns out that their distributor is the one who actually paints the door. Therma Tru doesn't paint their doors (apparently). The distributor's paint machine was having issues and affected the final paint job. And I was not the only customer who ended up with a failed finish product! The vendor reordered the door and another distributor on the East Coast will have to paint the door. I have to wait another 4 weeks for the new door, but at least I know what happened now. I only wish the vendor would have handled this in the first place instead of trying to do a patch up job with the paint when the door arrived (something I found out about later and was another reason for the delay). They should have contacted the distributor themselves and reordered the door right away. Man did the rep get in trouble! Ridiculous. Thanks everyone!
