What you suggest?

I would consider:

-- moving the powder room to a more central, but still discreet location.

--a future bar should be central as well, not tucked behind the home theatre as an afterthought.

--creating a "quiet" area to the far left by enclosing the posts in a wall with rounded edges. (I hate posts!)

--enclosing the home theatre. Otherwise, it's more like a sports bar. But if it's a sports bar you're emulating, that's another matter.

Looks like 3,500 sf altogether. With that kind of space and presumably budget, it would be worthwhile hiring an interior designer for assistance.

Thanks for the feedback. Goal is to have an open home theater, like you said -sports bar. You are right about the bar. Will move it either with the kit hen or close to the stairs wall.

In that case, no need for the movie seating to be 30 feet from the screen.

I still would be tempted to reserve the left portion for those who don't equate relaxation with sports bars.

Then choose your style--slick, gritty, traditioinal or modern and keep it consistent.

IMO the seating for the home theater is too far from the screen and I have no idea of how many people you want to seat in the HT and also how big the TV is those are 2 major issues , I find HTs work best when not out in the open so tha the sound is contained a bit. Sports bars are horrible places to enjoy TV so IMO don’t use that as a plan.I agree you need an ID to help here this is ahuge space and what I see from you is a bit confused and also IMO too open

I am planning to put 120 inch screen with projector. Planning to put minimum 2 rows of 4 people. I understand that HT should be in room of its own. But I am looking for an open space. Any other ideas?

Consider combining the bar and kitchen. I don’t see why you’d have two separate areas. Design the kitchen with a seating bar. No need for two sinks, two refrigerators, two wine coolers.

Also, looks like a fun project. I like that you can see the screen from all areas, the pool table, the gym, the bar/kitchen.

Yes, auntthelma. That was the original plan and will probably stick to it.
Kitchen and bar is easy. I am more concerned about the HT and giving it an open look.

Every basement I designed with a home theater, the room was dedicated specifically for it. Home theater is all about the entertainment experience, surround sound, and you want to have the least amount of distractions, noises, etc.

If you want the entire basement open just find an empty wall that you can hang your screen, attach a projector and you be good to go. People watching movies will be blasting the sound so they can hear it because people at the bar and people playing pool are talking or someone in the kitchen running water and banging dishes, not to mention kids running around playing, and people playing pool will be walking across the screen back and forth to get a drink, etc

You have plenty of room to have open space, an area dedicated to the home theater, and everything else. As the bar and pool area goes they should be side by side and have a dedicated TV servicing both the bar and the pool area.

Thank, GN. See new plan. I am going to add half walls with opening so the folks can see across. Will add heavy theater curtain. there will be around 10 ft of open area. Still want to keep "open basement" plan.

I could have moved the HT to the far left, but I have utility on the wall, and I will lose searing space and will also lose screen size.

Why do you want anyone to see across the theater room? Is there a view of a beautiful backyard or a waterfront view that they can enjoy? It's a utility room and a pool table and you will never enjoy the theater room, the sound, etc with all of the surrounding distractions.

The pool location is in the wrong place. Opening a wall on that side is not a good idea also with the furnace being there unless you don't mind the noise of your furnace.

This layout might look good to you on paper, and so are the many requests I get to fix existing layouts because when I show clients the layout in 3D 85% of the time they want to change the layout because it lacks functionality.

You have a large area to work with, approx 2300 SQ FT + and you have everything on one side surrounding a theater room.

I don't know who is doing this for you, but they have no clue what they doing. Ask them to do this in 3D and I bet you not gonna like what you see.
