Can you explain what you mean by a dipping pool? To me that is place to fill watering cans for the garden in which case water quality isn’t that important.

Sorry I wasn’t clear. A small pool approx 4’ wide, 8’ long and 4’ feet that person could take a relaxing “dip” in the water to cool down (we live a very hot dry part of northern CA where temps frequently get over 100). No jets, no hot tub

Those rocks on the edge are going to make getting out of the pool painful. Perhaps you should put down a different surface.

To answer your specific question, pond plumbing parts and pool plumbing parts are generally the very same parts, so yes the chlorine will sanitize the old pond plumbing in the waterfall. Normal pond scum isn't likely to kill you anyway. Chlorine and the rubber liner is another matter.

It has an existing waterfall and the interior will be cleaned and replastered. They will cut away rock and put in stairs. Agree the rocks around the edge are a hazard.

I've been reading about wetland areas for ponds where the water is pumped from the pond and it is filtered through layers of rock before it falls back down into the main pool. You get an ecosystem going with bacteria and plants so you don't use chlorine. Also, you could replace some of your rocks with flatter ones to provide for seating and entry points.
