You really need to bring samples home, or mock up the different sizes as best you can. One third the drawer width is a good basic guideline.

Sarah M and jac roc—I’m in the same bind, but I have purchased samples (many are returnable) in 4”, 6” and 8” (latter is deemed an appliance pull). I mocked up foil samples and paper cutouts (not the best, but “sort of” helpful) of 10”, 12”, and 18”. Regardless, I’m still stumped on a few sizes. I prefer a more traditional look, but my husband insists on one pull for our 30” inch cooktop drawers (white Shaker inset). We are using knobs on doors and pulls on drawers. 60” pantry doors are a coin toss, as I feel those should be longer pulls; he wants knobs just because they are just doors. Using the 1/3 guideline, we fall into mostly 4”, 6” and a few 8” (CTC). As you stated, another rule suggests sticking to 2-3 pull sizes (I guess this ignores appliance pulls.), so am I best to just use 8” pulls on my 3 x 30” cooktop drawers, or do I add in 10” pulls, since they happen to be offered? There is a bank of smaller, 12” drawers to the left of the cooktop drawers that will have 4” pulls, so we think 8” might look more balanced right next to those. Attached are photos of the cooktop space with 30” inch drawers beneath and the Alno Charlie’s Collection pulls (and knobs) I’m using. Also attached are images of three, 60” pantry doors—what is best: knobs (husband thinks all we need) or 6” or 8” pulls. The 8” inch is a heavier appliance pull, as they don’t offer an 8” regular pull.

Use the same size for all. 5"-6" range. Forget the trend toward installing all different sized weapons on your cabinets.

I'd opt for 6" ctc all over, but I'll have to test that size on 12" drawers next to the cooktop--with the recessed Shaker panel, I don't think the 6's fit inside the panels. When in doubt, could use knobs on 12" drawers, but that breaks my "Knobs on Doors and Pulls on Drawers" theme, and fact my husband and main cook feels he wants any drawer near the cooktop to be greasy-finger/pinky friendly!

Ordered Water Street pulls, earlier, for the island(s); told the lead time a lot longer and pressured to get ordered. Did 6" ctc on larger outside banks and 4" ctc on middle banks, but they are double-sided with far side having false drawers. Husband cringed at extra expense for "fakes," but I minimized other areas that could have had more false panels (e.g. DW).

Perhaps 6" ctc could have worked on all 12 of them but have to live with that choice (unless not yet in production). Cabinet designer bugged me about picking hardware since many months ago...before demo even started! Been easier to visualize now with a bit of lighting overhead and cabinets/counters in but need some quiet time without saws buzzing and crew members all over to finalize choices. They all think I'm crazy. I'm about to agree! : (
