Weird. I would need at the very least an undercounter ice maker.

Our kitchen doesn't have a freezer or ice maker, just a fridge. We love it. We have a freezer in the basement (a garage might work for you?), but we've never missed having a freezer in the kitchen. It also means our fridge is more spacious, with extra crisper drawers.

It also helps keep our waistlines a bit more trim--desserts tend to be put in the freezer and forgotten after the first serving!

I can’t imagine not having a freezer in a kitchen, isn’t that like a bathroom without a sink? How wide is the fridge?

I’m not sure of the width or CF of the fridge, but is medium size at best. I’ll have to determine what fridge/freezer combo might work in the space. There really is no simple solution as there is no water on this wall and any improvement will mean a loss of pantry or cabinet space. I feel the current design is a big flaw in the house.

We made a deliberate choice to have an all-fridge in the kitchen. We do have freezer drawers, but they are on the periphery and technically outside of the actual kitchen. No ice maker in the kitchen, but there is one in a fridge in a different part of the house. We are extremely happy with this choice and would make the same decision again. A counter-depth fridge is so much easier to keep organized (no more "lost" items in the back). And an all fridge uses space much more efficiently. It also often does a better job at keeping food fresh and at the optimal temperature.

I happen to love a freezer with my fridge! We have a chest freezer in the basement to store extra frozen food when we get it at a great price!

I didn't realize the no-freezer-kitchen was a thing. I can't imagine not having easy access to ice & frozen items - no way am I lugging food from the basement on a regular basis. I've been looking at refrigerators & maybe it's why French door models seem to hold not much more than a frozen pizza, ice cream, & a few ice cubes.

This is my point. Is a no freezer/ice maker situation in the kitchen a problem in the sale/resale of a house? I think so.

I have a freezer next to my counter depth refrigerator in the kitchen. The freezer has an ice maker, but the refrigerator does not have a water dispenser. We don't miss the water in the door. Our freezer did not have water on that wall, and it is about 15 ft from the kitchen sink. The water line was run to the corner, up the interior wall (doorway into laundry room), then down the wall, and over about 6 ft to the freezer.

Have you asked for an estimate to run that skinny little tubing for a refrigerator/freezer combo? It may be cheaper than buying a designated ice maker. Less hassle when the ice maker goes out and more room in your cabinets. I guess there is no place for a freezer in the kitchen? My kids are grown, but we still use a lot of ice. I can't imagine going to the garage or the basement to get ice.

I love my shallow, counter depth refrigerator. So easy to find things.

At our townhouse we have a Liebherr with non-plumbed ice maker. It works fine.

At our lake and island houses we use ice trays. The lake house has a very deep well, so the tap water is cold. The island house has cistern water, so we use filtered or bottled water to make ice. We don't drink soda.

I would absolutely buy a house without freezer in the kitchen, if there were one in the pantry. I don't have a microwave or disposal, so someone might not like that, but they can change it.

You don't need an under the counter ice maker unless you plan to entertain the entire neighborhood on a regular basis.

You can either put a separate freezer in the kitchen and have a water line run to it which is an easy-peezy thing to do for the store from which you purchase it to do or the manufacturer can send some one out, or you can can call any licensed plumber.

Or put your separate freeezer anywhere you want, and get a separate portable countertop electronic icemaker which will make 30 pounds of ice in 24 hours. They make ice in minutes, you just pour in the water, and you can adjust the ice cube size, and they store ice as well.

That should keep you and hubby and your guests in enough sweet tea to keep you comfy even on a sweltering Texas day.

Igloo and Frigidaire both make highly rated ones for approximately $100 and they can sit on your counter or on a shelf, and the whole unit measures approximately a foot cubed :)

We designed a kitchen with an all-fridge and located the freezer in the pantry. Loved having the extra space and excellent function of the fridge, and also the clean look of it. Having the freezer in the pantry (a separate room around the corner) was never an issue. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I'm replacing a 36" frig with an all refrigerator in the kitchen. The different interior temp and humidity spaces are the attraction. We have alternative freezer capacity at two other locations.

Yes - if I wasn’t thinking we are going to sell our house soon, I would 100% just have a refrigerator in the kitchen with the the freezer in the garage, which is not that far away. If I ever build a house - same thing - freezer in the pantry or elsewhere. We just don’t use our freezer much at all. It’s where things go to die.

However, this is something I just realized while embarking on a remodel. If I was previously buying a house, I would have thought it was strange; now I realize it’s genius.
