I don't know what style your house is but I'd get a motion-sensing lamp with a "dusk-to-dawn" feature that kept the light off during daylight hours. Home Depot has a bunch (example) and you can get one for less than $100. (Personally, I'd only buy an outdoor light that met Dark Sky rules and had a motion sensor and was "dusk to dawn" (example).

Your examples are great for wall-mounted lights, but mine would be mounted in the center of the porch ceiling, so I don't think there is a dark sky problem. My house is a 19th century Victorian.

We have a very old house, too. My husband found “wireless light switches” on Amazon. There is a remote control which can be fastened to the wall with double stick tape. We used one for our outdoor fountain, one in the front parlor, and two in the dining room, solving the problem without running wires. Much less expensive than retiring. If you even a little bit handy, it’s a DIY.

no, the the OP already has wiring for the light, they just don't have the switch. They are using a pull chain, so we know there is electric service to the light. The receiver goes into the box where the light is. The remote is a transmitter, battery operated. I have 2 in our dining room, one in the back parlor, and one turns our patio fountain on and off. We had first seen these on "Ask This Old House" and immediately bought them because they solved the problem.

Depending on the model, the receiver might fit in the box (example). But why not just get a motion-sensing, "dark-to-dusk" light instead? It's a better solution.

Get an electrician to cut in a junction box in the porch ceiling tied into the existing light circuit.
