i had a similar situation in my ground freeze MI ... especially if it rained before the ground thawed ...

there was no limit to what i planted in the area ... as the water wasnt there long enough to make it a variable ...

do you have some knowledge of things failing.. or are you just surmising???

Hi Ken. I've tried Glandularia canadensis. It thrived in the hot summer (seemed to like being next to a hot driveway), but didn't return in the spring. However the other Glandularia canadensis I planted also along the driveway but uphill (my driveway slopes) did great and returned.

We often get rain for 2-3 days straight in the spring and it pools in that one spot next to the driveway.

just move some cuttings after the spring water is gone ... maybe even make a flat or two now.. to grow some roots.. so they can be planted out later with more roots ...

Great point about the fall drainage... We do get ground freeze where I am. I think you're on to something. Thanks!

I'll try to take cuttings and give it another try. This plant is a profuse bloomer and was a joy to see every morning on the way to work.

24 hours gone after a pool of water is pretty good drainage in my book -- as long as it drains well, pretty much any full-sun moisture lover will do fine there.
