Hang floor length panels ( sheer? Solid? Patterned?) and gather in the center of each with a decorative tie. This allows some light in but helps minimize.

I was thinking of using sheers. Pottery barn has some nice ones.

Top down/bottom ups treatment and you can add stationary panels at the ends for softness, color and pattern.

The door makes it more challenging. Do you use it a lot? Getting in and out with a drapery panel blowing, especially a light colored one doesn't work. They have honeycombs for doors you can raise and lower too, but panels behind the chairs would look cozier.

Most definitely because it is our back door. As much as I would like to have more privacy, I am willing to sacrifice some privacy and dress the windows with minimum treatment. I was thinking of using stag rods and only partially covering the windows. Thank you for bringing that to my attention.

It is a California Grapevine Table purchased 30 years ago. I have seen them on Napastyle Co. on the Internet.

There's a film you can put on the glass and you'll notice it just barely during the day, but at night you can see out clearly, from the outside it looks like a mirror so you'll have all of your privacy. Lowes and Home Depot sell it.
Otherwise decoenthusiaste's idea matching the shades you already have in the room would nicely cover the windows and the door as much or as little as you want.

It's a great idea but I would have to check with my builder regarding warranties on the windows. They are already slightly tinted for sun protection and I have read that adding a film to them could void the warranty for some reason.

To Gantts Decorating. I am also considering the roman shades on the smaller window that flank the fireplace and drapes for the other windows.

I like the look of the plantation shutters and they offer perfect privacy. I am considering them in the bedrooms. I wish that I didn't have to deal with the privacy in the first place. I live in a great community where many people have little or no drawn curtains at night and it seems to be of no concern to them.

Yes, very true. Many people choose not to have curtains for whatever reason, however, your concern is privacy and you should feel comfortable in your home. Plantation shutters are great because you can hang drapes along side them if you choose to. Best of luck!!
