Building a Home Basements

average cost for daylight basement 1600 sq ft

Helping a friend in West Virginia. He's getting estimates for a daylight basement. 9' walls. This is a new build. Any ideas of what it should cost? I realize seasonality and demand all play a part in this, so a range is fine.

West Virginia is mostly mountainous. That changes things a lot. I paid about $50k for a similar unfinished space about 10 years ago. So $100k would be great but probably a bit more that that - unfinished.

Your friend will get his answer when they receive the estimates. Anything other than those estimates are potentially misleading.

Pricing for that is highly regional. Local contractors will be able to tell him what the "going" rate is for his locale.

I’m in Missouri. Our 2200 sq ft basement concrete was 40,000. We have mostly poor draining clay in our area. So waterproofing and dirtwork add additional costs of 3500. We didn’t finish ours all the way so not sure of the costs there.
