They're 20th century. Victor Schiad owned a furniture and antique store in Louisville. He died in 1985 and had the business for 55 years before he retired. He was born in 1898. I am assuming that he retired before he died but not sure how long before! Otherwise it wouldn't say "retired" (saw an obit for him on line). They dealt in cabinetmaking, furniture and antiques so if they were "made" and not "sold" by the Victor Schiad Company, they would have to be 20th century. It doesn't say when he started the business nor when he retired. He was 87 when he died. It does say the "old Victor Schiad Company" so would assume that it went out of business before 1985 when he died.

But they are nice chairs!

I think they are "older". They appear to have been reupholstered. How do you know they were sold by the Victor Schiad store? is there a label? Please show a picture if there is.

I would call them renaissance revival rather than Eastlake.

That looks like a seller's label. As far as value it is what you paid for it. Selling depends on your region so probably no one here can give you a selling price. As posted in so many other posts asking the same thing check Ebay.

Yes, it's a seller's label thus I am thinking the chairs are older. He dealt in antiques as well as new furniture. It doesn't say made by so I agree with Linda. I was only going by what the OP said about them being "made by" a person who was in business in the 20th century. A similar chair here sold for $50 and it took a year to do it for the original price was $300 and they kept going down! Unless you're in an area with a lot of Victorian houses that are being restored, the furniture is not selling for much. And even in those areas, the homeowners are fixing up their houses and wanting bargain furniture!

These are two beautiful chairs and in MY eyes worth a fortune. But I'm not a furniture historian or an appraiser!

I already told you....They appear to be Renaissance Revival chairs that have been upholstered. Dating from about 1880 to 1900....likely walnut or mahogany....and not worth what they should be worth because victorian furniture isn't in style currently.
You might get $250 for both chairs, if you are lucky.
