Post a to scale plan without all the”stuff” going on and then see what answers you get .IMo take out the walls and make a big mud room/ laundry or do an addition. I like laundry on the main floor since that is where i spend my time and really do not want to go up and down constantly when doing laundry.

Some ideas:

Shift garage entry door to the left:

-buy a stackable washer set, put in bench with shoe storage and hooks

-move laundry, have 8' bench storage area (I would only move laundry if all bedrooms were upstairs)

Combine current entry with laundry, add door swinging out into dinette or pocket door to avoid "fighting doors":

-makes room for at least 6' bench storage area

-or buy stackable set and have 8+ feet of storage room

Thanks for the ideas! I’m thinking the wall probably needs to come down and I’ll lose my utility sink but maybe worth the sacrifice to not have to spend money on an addition

If you ever have piles of laundry on the floor, I would not move the garage door to enter the laundry room. I have to walk through my laundry room from the garage and hate it! Maybe I need more laundry baskets for the sorting, but still.

Ooh good point. I do sometimes have towels/super dirty outside clothes on the floor
