AquaDefense/Redgard use in shower with mortar float and chicken wire

I need expert advice here please. My contractor has installed DensShield board on the shower walls and installed a hot mop pan in the shower floor. He sealed the seams of the walls with paper tape and joint compound. The shower niche is plywood. Over this base he will install "the tried-and- true method of paper & lath applied directly to the drywall, then mortar float, thin-set and tile".

My question: shouldn't he seal the seams of the Densshield walls and the plywood in the niche with Aquadefense or Redgard? or would this create a moisture trap?

Thank you.
