Stacking washer/dryer different brands

I know in theory it's possible to stack a brand X dryer on top of a brand Y washer, but are there benefits (other than aesthetics) to sticking with the same brand? Has anyone had problems from stacking different brands of machines?

I want a vented 24" dryer, so my options there are limited and I am now thinking I might mix brands (specifically I'm looking at an LG washer, but using a different dryer since LG doesn't make 24" vented dryers).

Stacked washers and dryers are attached together using a stacking kit provided by the manufacturer. Bosch sells kits, LG's stacking kit is included with its 24" dryer. I don't know how you concluded that different brands of washers and dryers can be safely stacked.

LG has a new DLHC1455W heat pump dryer that can be stacked on its WM1455HWA washer.

Yes, more brands have added heat pump dryers, but I have a vent and want to use it.

There are universal stacking kits made to stack different machines, of the same dimensions.
