I promise you, no auto body shop wants to bother painting your door. The set up is the same as if they paint an entire car, and the profit margin isn’t there.

Auto body paint doesn't belong on a wood door if it's metal or fiberglass maybe.

Thank you for your responses. Sadly there are very few people on the FPE link above near me who do this. I contacted one of the two listed painters previously and it's almost $3,000 to just paint the front door! I contacted the second person and will see how that goes.

I thought it was odd more people weren't doing this but now I know why. Who is going to pay $3,000 to paint a $1200 door?? (Hopefully not me!)

I know auto body shops do it but I agree that it doesn't seem like a very profitable project for them so I haven't pursued it.

Maybe consider doing it yourself with the Hollandlac kit. FPE has excellent customer support and information. @faron knows a lot about FPE; maybe he'll see this post and chime in with ideas.
