Everything is looking good. It's always nice to get plants properly packed and in excellent shape. I always buy from known growers or dealers who may charge a little bit more but it's worth it to get plants that you want.

I agree, miles10612. It was a bit more than I would have wanted to spend, but the quality more than makes up for it.

Glad to hear that you are happy with your plants. They do look good. I was able to visit Hosta Choice once and the gardens were beautiful, and their pots looked great. I've never ordered from them. I can see that they take care of their plants and ship them with care. I would be happy to order from them.

Oh, that must have been a thrill to visit Hosta Choice in person, newhostalady. And definitely, I can recommend them for online sales and shipping.

I received an e-mail on May 26th stating that I need to be patient and that they are making headway with the orders that started on may 15th. They said that they had bad weather/frost and damaged some of their inventory.

I have ordered from them before and was very satisfied with what I received.

And the "Alphabet", that's not the threads that get started in January, is it? Cuz that's too long to keep us in suspense on what you bought.

I am still waiting very patiently. I have my garden all ready for my beauties. I amended my soil with some sheep and cow manure/compost.

djacobz568sewi: thanks. I feel like I had a major case of beginner's luck with Hosta Choice, and with Shadow's experience I'll be a bit leary to order from them again.

Don't think they ship outside of Canada, but not positive, and right now they aren't doing online orders at all, so all references to shipping are gone.

Just an update on how these Hostas made it through their first summer in my garden.

Island Breeze: Got seriously eaten by, I guess, slugs. This was the worst year I've ever seen for Hosta leaves being eaten, so hopefully it will be better next year. She got flower scapes, but they're pretty flimsy, and haven't bloomed yet.

Rubies and Ruffles: This one also had leaf damage. Also needed to be taped up to keep it from flopping. It did manage to have flowers though.

Touch of Class: Only grew one new small leaf. But didn't seem to be bothered by slugs. Had gorgeous flowers.

Little Red Rooster: This one was gifted to someone else's garden, so I didn't get to keep an eye on it. I do know its leaves got seriously eaten. It did, however, have flowers.

Won't know, obviously, till spring if they all survive their first winter, but so far, very pleased with the quality of Hostas I received from Hosta Choice, and would definitely buy from them again.

Gardenchick, I am going to try to bump up a post about how to drench your hostas to prevent slug damage.
