Advice - Master bathroom tile selection

We are renovating our master bathroom soon and I am hoping to get some advice on our floor tile selection. I am looking going for a transitional, timeless look (as much as that is possible!). Vanity will be white with carrera marble counters (see photo). Shower tile will be glossy white 4 by 12 subway tile, and shampoo insert will be marble herringbone. Fixtures will be either brushed nickel or black.

I am trying to decided between 2 floor tiles - one a very light grey, and one a medium/darker grey. Which one would look better? Are both okay options? Any other suggestions? Thank you!

The tile names are Europa Vienna and Aberdeen Urban.

The look won't be timeless.

Is that your bathroom in the photo? If it is, it was done during the "brown" trend when everyone was doing the travertine/tuscan look tiles. Bet you are ready for a change!

You are about to do a bathroom in the "gray" trend, but you are catching the trend in its 12th year (or more), so it has already been around for a while.

If you have always loved gray then go ahead, but if you are using these colors because 70% of the photos on Houzz have looked like this for 12 years, then you might want to stop and think about it some more.

Thank you! The current tiles are hideous. lol. Do you have any suggestions for something that would be more timeless? If you have pics that you could share, that would be helpful. I just thought the grey went well with the grey in the marble counter. I know that I don’t want marble look floor tiles.

The darker color is prettier, it will anchor the floor against all the other white elements.

I like the lighter better.
But, what’s the shower pan flooring?

Gray is not timeless. White is timeless and so is any color or style that works with the style of your house. What is the age and style of your house?

I agree that the darker grey will ground the white vanity. I think gray floors are timeless and classic❣️Your vanity is beautiful!

So I am more confused now! Some say grey is timeless, others say dated.

To answer the questions above, shower pan is white acrylic. Our house was built in 2005, typical surburban red brick house. As we have been updating it, I would say design choices have been transitional. Kitchen is white shaker cabinets, Cambria berwyn counters, provincial stained hardwood floors. We have grey tile at our front entrance.

If grey is dated (or will be soon), what other options are there for tile colour that is neutral? I don’t want beige, tan or brown. Attached is a pic of the look I would like. I feel like it is pretty timeless, but I am far from a design expert!

Thanks again all!

What about doing a white floor that has a bit of black and tie that in with the black fixtures. Look up Maria Killam and take a look at both of her bathrooms for ideas on hard finishes.
