Metal with glass/crystal inserts.

My first thought was: insect house? I guess it's not that. It's cool, and I love the blue color it's up against.

Maybe I'm paranoid but it looks like a bunch of eyes looking at you.

I am a fan of both art and found objects in the garden - I like it. Looks like it is helping to dress up a very utilitarian storage shed.........

It was sitting by the dumpster at the trash drop off site which is a free sign by protocol. It is a framed, pressed cut metal pattern with glass crystals made to hang on a wall. It said groovy to me and fell right in my truck.

It would have fallen in mine as well 😁

I would use it in my garden, too. I wonder if my multitude of rabbits would be frightened of it??? I am having an over population of squirrels and rabbits this year. None of them are afraid of us. And for the 1st time in 28 years I had a deer eat some of my hosta. ugg I wonder if I could talk my husband into a big outdoor dog????? Probably not.

The hanging from a tree, mobile option is still on the table. It might could scare some varmints - briefly. The back of it is a flat black color. It's only half shiny.

There have been some adjustments since the finding. I found another shiny objet after I decided to spin the thing around.

I’m happy to learn I’m not the only one giving things a tweak as the mood strikes. ☺️ Do you have another - or two- blue bottles to add to the lush bottle tree? What is that length of tubing draped over the Maui hooks? Looks like a tool to fish something through a narrow opening?

I'm low on blue bottles and the tree part of it is pine and falling apart. I've lost a few bottles already. That tubing is a 10' long piece of electric wire the lineman dudes left under the pole after the last repair. It already had one splice in the part they cut off.

Someone chopped down a tree in the middle of the night and dropped it on the electric wires a bit below my house and shut off the power - twice - in the same spot last month. Who does that?

Tree thieves (firewood)? Burglars disabling alarms and cameras by shutting off the power in the neighborhood?

KW I do have an abundance of blue glass insulators. I think it may be time to design a new bottle tree.

@Christopher CNC ohhh an insulator tree would be quite the deal! I do like those old things. I once saw a deck with its railing posts sporting the rarish lavender toned ones & somehow lighting was installed on the post under the insulator top. Looked very pretty at night. it looks like you have an assortment of neat things on that deck that can be put to good use when an idea strikes. Good thing you’re a creative sort! What’s that hook thing? Makes me think of some kind of old animal prod - hope not! 😬

That hook thing reminds me of the thing that was at the end of a long pole used to open and close and latch the upper windows in our grade school in the 1950's.

It is my understanding which could be wrong, the hook thing goes on a long stick that an electric utility lineman would use to handle the live wires.

@Olychick that’s a pretty good guess - it does look like the 4th hook from the left in your picture. @Christopher CNC - I showed the pic to my husband asking what he thought it was - right away he thought it was a boat hook - he’s seen hooks on poles used to pull lines & stuff on boats. Told him what you were told & he agreed with that too saying it looks pretty well insulated. I thought it looks like metal & he said not if it was handling live wires. What’s it made of?

It is made of heavy metal. It certainly looks like it was make for poking and prodding something. I couldn't figure out how it would ever fit anything.

Added: It was attached to something. It has a threaded shaft inside of it and a screw hole to the innards. Being metal, it may have been used to ground or interrupt the current on a live wire?

@Christopher CNC - Hmm - a puzzle. I figured it was attached to a pole. Made me think again about my dad - as in - Too bad dad’s not here anymore - he would’ve known! My dad was an electrician!
