Typically the grout lines of smaller tile is what give the majority of the slip resistance. Is this a shower rated tile? What is the coefficient of friction of the tile? Also an average tile setter will odds on make a mess of this type of tile. Last thing you want is a beautiful shower and end up breaking a hip.

Yeah, the floor hexagon is shower rated (but I will probably go with smaller hex on the floor. I am just wondering whether or not people are using the 24x48” on shower walls in a tub-sized shower or if It’s way too big? Tile salesperson of course says I can do it.

There is no room for a bench in a tub sized shower and those tiles will require a really good tiler . I love 12 x24 tile in both bathroom floors and shower walls but those IMO are too large for the size of your shower and the salespaerson will say anything to make a sale . Just lay out on graph paper the walls and see how those tiles would be layed out you will very quicky see that size tile is just too big . you will have so much waste and BTW curbless means the wole bathroom needs to be a wet room and what is the reason for curbless other than spending a lot of money for no real purpose since that size shower certainly cannot be used for wheelcahir access. BTW if you put a bench in there how would that work ? Maybe you need to first get the plan right then choose tile

Perhaps I used the wrong term. Maybe it’s a “seat” not a “bench”(edited the original post to correct). Currently, one exists in that shower, so it does fit. Curbless was suggested to me because there is already a step down into that shower, which means they would not have to dig into the foundation or anything. Also, that shower will be used by a boy with hemiplegia (no wheelchair). I see your point about the tile waste.

Install them vertically stacked and you’ll be good! Definitely make sure your installer is good with installing that size tile. Many installers in my area don’t have the saw that is required to cut that large of a format.

We use lots of oversized tile- I’ve done a couple with 30/60” tile even (that’s a bear). My home shower is 24/48. Note that at least in my experience they are actually smaller than 48 since they are European…

I would think 12" x 24" tile would be too large for a niche.
