Smaller scale furniture would go a long ways in making the small living room more appealing. Right now all you can see is large furnniture with no room to rearrange. Too much black also.

I agree that big wall unit makes one big dark space. Is there any way to remove the wall unit and replace it with a TV console with cabinets underneath for storage.

You're being very kind about a spouse who chooses to purchase large items without considering your input. If anything the recliners look very comfortable.

Do u guys have any pictures?. Of what to put instead i am 0 % creative. We are seperating so i wasnt concidered in furniture

I would face one toward the TV, and sell the other. You might be able to fit a couple smaller chairs in there too, but watching TV sideways would be really uncomfortable. Unless you have room in that space to create a riser for the second set and put it behind the other like a theater. (i mean if you have a basem family room, or some). otherwise i agree you may be better off in multiple ways if you let them go and start over.

I’m sorry you are going through a separation and a tough time. Trust me, it will get better. Let him take those recliners with him, and you can find something that fits for you, even if it needs to be from second hand shops etc. you’ll find something much better! If he doesn’t take them, sell ‘em!

Change the orientation of your rug and lower the art over the sofa.

You could also dismantle that big wall unit and just keep the console for the tv. Find a small sofa to face the tv and a couple chairs on each side where sofas are now. Then later add side tables and lighting.

It would be best if you got rid of them; they're not flattering or in this room. I don't know how you explain it to your husband, but you should sell them or throw them away. Buy a small low coach instead, and I suggest something lighter. If the walls and furniture are of a similar color, everything feels more spacious and decluttered. You can also add some mirrors to the space, making the room look more spacious. Don't forget to post the results!
