ps: also... i usually recommend a diverse planting ... try to avoid planting all of one thing ... in case some plague comes along and destroys all of them ... its rare.. but it happens ... and it usually happens the season after you say to yourself.. boy.. that planting just looks perfect ... lol ..

pps: also.. ROS can have proclivities to overseeding and becoming a nuisance.. but perhaps this version is not such ... i didnt see such at your link.. but that isnt the type of sellers page they would tell you about it ...

Thanks very much for your sensible advice. I am in the South Okanagan in British Columbia (Zone 6, directly above Washington State) and we are a arid, semi-desert climate. The situation I'm looking to plant is challenging; on a slope, south facing, windy, so I had thought that the ROS may like this (as its full sun ++). Good point on the re-seeding, I will email the company and ask them about that.

I also do like the idea of a diverse planting, and I have been thinking about that in other areas of our garden to form a interesting visual block. The only caveat in this space is that I would like a narrow hedge/ block (it is going on the back of a 10 foot flower bed, but I don't want to lose too much space in the flower bed, nor have the hedge push on the fence), and the idea of multiple ROS's blooming in a hedge just sounds delightful to me. Maybe I need to look at other plants that have a narrow growth pattern, like a sky pencil holly or graham blandy boxwood (although not sure if these like full sun?), to mix it up a bit.

And never fear, although I did get excited and for a moment considered planting a row of very expensive standard ROS's, I then took a breath and realized that yes, they should be planted in September instead ;)

For reference, I will be growing the hedge /block on the right side here (please ignore the dire grass situation, it isn't appreciating this heat wave...)
