Yes, I agree with @acm’s comment. Any hood with a motor at head height will have some noise. Think about your bathroom fan exhaust noise level - those typically have around 75 or 85 cfms. A kitchen hood has cfms several times that, so people are unrealistic in their expectations for a quiet hood.

Having said that, one thing that makes hoods more noisy is ductwork that is too small for the hood’s cfms. Most hoods need the duct to be an 8” diameter. What is the size of your exhaust duct that goes from your kitchen to outside? If it is too small, you could have the quietest hood made on Earth, and it would still be noisy.

What does your comment mean ”that has a small amount of stainless steel”? If you mean you want a glass hood, I’d avoid that. The glass hoods show grease spatter glaringly and also don’t work very well as exhausts. I recommend a canopy-shaped stainless steel hood (not a flat hood), which will have better capture. No point in spending all that money on a hood, and not have it work well. They’ll all look good with your Miele cooktop. Matchy-matchy appliances are a kinda dated look.

If your stove is not on an outside wall, an in-line/remote blower will be quieter, if somewhat less effective.

In-line and remote blowers are not less effective unless undersized relative to in-hood blowers. They are potentially quieter, depending on what you select, and particularly if a silencer is used between hood and blower.

On what basis was 600 CFM selected, and do you mean an actual 600 CFM, or a blower with a 600 CFM rating in free air?
