I'm in South Hayward and have a dwarf nectarine tree. I've noticed a couple things about it. First of all, it seems to have A LOT more leaves on it than other stone fruit trees I see. I did prune it in the winter but even after that the foliage turned out to be quite thick. Could this cause problems for the fruit production? Should I try thinning out the leaves somehow?

Our neighbor has a regular size peach tree and the fruit on it is already full sized and ripe. Our nectarine tree's fruit seems to be delayed. The fruit is still mostly green and not all of it is full-sized and it's already August. Could this have to do with the tree having too much leaves? I noticed that the fruits that have more sun exposure are turning their color while the ones that remain shaded are staying green. Again, should I try thinning out the leave or should I just leave it alone?
