More detail is needed. The floors really look very similar.

Gray is on the way out, IMO. Brown is more enduring and classic, especially with your brown seating.

@Connie Stackhouse well they are similar because i dont want a dark color for my living room, but i think its easy to see pne is more brown than the other. also the light gray has more of a texture wood grain and the brown is flat and matt.

From what I've seen of your kitchen in another post, IMHO the brownish planks would tie in better with your hickory kitchen cabinets. I don't know if you had planned on carrying the wood planks into the kitchen too, but even if you're not, it will still tie the two spaces together and be more continuous color wise. Pay careful attention to undertones with all selections to find harmonious tones. Pink and gold undertones always clash badly, as well as white and beiges.
