House plant troubles :(

Please help! What am I doing wrong? The first pic is a split leaf (I don’t know the official name!?) I bought from a nursery. When I bought it, it was vibrant, not drooping, and it was kept inside with little sunlight. I brought it home and put it in front of a north facing window (I’m in north Alabama) with little to no direct sunlight. Since I’ve brought it home, it’s drooping and the new growth at the bottom has shriveled up and died. I only water it when the soil is completely dry and it is out of reach of any air vent.
The second is an aloe Vera. I’ve had it about a year and it hasn’t seemed to grow at all. The nursery told me to leave it outside but when I did that it started to shrivel so I brought it back inside. Again, I only water it a little when the soil is completely dry. It is cacti soil with extra perlite. But it seems to keep drooping and browning!
Any help very much appreciated!!!!

Why are you waiting until the soil is "completely dry" to add water? So many people are doing this lately.

When you say dry do you mean the surface or deep in the pot? Is there a drainage hole in that aloe pot?

you did not include a pic of the philo after it went downhill ... but i agree on the lack of water comment ... unless that first pic is after.. and if it is.. i dont know what you are complaining about ... and to be sure.. as those huge leaves develop the plant is not going to hold them up forever ... so them starting to move down due to gravity is somewhat normal ....

i hope the aloe went outside in full bright shade.. and not into the sun.. if not.. then it sunbrunt.. and there is a chance the rather too small pot dried out too much because of the sun and its heat ...

i like the pot in pot of the first.. im not thrilled about the second not being such.. but if you can perfect the watering in that pot... good enough ... or is there a square pot in there????

The first plant is monstera deliciosa. I don't believe that North facing window is enough light for it. They like more light. Try an East-facing window if you have one. If you have West or South-facing, they would work too, just put the plant a few feet from the window.
