Lots of veneers are likely on that table. You'll have to decide how to create edges so the bare wood doesn't show. Do you have the skills and tools to do this or are you contracting someone else to create the piece for you?

Here's what I see could be easily done. And yes, corbels are definitely for fireplace mantel shelves, I've sold them for years.

It can be done. The challenge will be if the table is not a solid wood but veneered. Have you found a professional to do this job for you or are you going to do it yourself?
