It should be ok provided the surface was properly prepped prior to the addition.

What bothers me as an owner is, someone, the owner an employee of the company, should have been on site the day of the shot instead leaving it up to the gunite crew to guess break lines and/or finished depths.

I am on every pool shot to go over every detail of the pool.

Depths, break lines, pipe stub locations are covered in detail. After all, my clients are spending money on project with expectations set forth by me.

The surface must be clean of any dirt and debris. A light acid wash will do that.

Saturated Surface Dry is the term used to prep the surface prior to adding concrete.

The surface is wet down with water but without any puddles or standing water forming.

Any standing water is sponged up.

The reason is to prevent the water in the shot from being drawn out. The result can be a shot that dries too fast. Some hazing or cracking can occur. Too much water can screw up the cement to water ratio.

Most of the time a gunite crew will shoot a wet paste on the surface to allow for proper bonding.
